Art History with a Twist: Social & Political Commentary in Western Art

Artist and art historian Marcy B. Freedman returns to Hudson Valley MOCA to present three lectures that focus upon the ways in which art confronts human behavior. Marcy utilizes her background in art history — an undergraduate degree and two master’s degrees — in her public lectures and curatorial projects. Marcy Freedman will highlight the varied approaches that have been used to explore the nature of war, racism, and gender inequality. Among the artists to be discussed are Goya, Nancy Spero, David Hammons, and the Guerrilla Girls.
