It can be challenging for folks engaged in liberation work (organizing, advocacy, teaching, etc.) to take care of themselves, especially when many systems are structured to do the complete opposite—to dissuade folks from engaging in self-care. Ella Ofori, a Bay-area therapist and activist, will discuss common barriers and share a framework grounded in Black Feminism/Womanism that can help folks move from an individualistic and surface understanding of self-care to a more collectivistic, holistic, nurturing, and personal approach.
