Clayton Childress (Vassar '02), assistant professor of sociology at the University of Toronto, will discuss his new book, Under the Cove. Under the Cover follows the life trajectory of a single work of fiction (Cornelia Nixon's historical novel Jarrettsville) from its initial inspiration to its reception by reviewers and readers. It sheds new light on how decisions are made, inequalities are reproduced, and novels are built to travel in the creation, production, and consumption of culture.
