Visitors can explore the oldest religious building in Orange County: the 1790 Quaker Meetinghouse in Cornwall. Arrive by 10:30 a.m. to join our hour of silent worship. Or drop in after 11:30 a.m. for light refreshments and individual tours. Think of hand-hewn beams, a carriage shed, and a cemetery more than 200 years old. The lovely simplicity of the Meetinghouse reflects the Quaker belief that the true church is the individual heart, where every person can encounter the Divine. This event is part of the annual Sacred Sites Open House, sponsored by the New York State Landmarks Conservancy.
