This program will include an informational presentation regarding the different methods by which Village and Town governments are encouraged to unify by the state of New York; a case study of how this process was undertaken in New Paltz; and a discussion of the potential benefits and challenges of such reorganization in Saugerties. Speakers, Carl Ublacker, Local Government Specialist with the NY State Department of State, Tim Rogers, former mayor of New Paltz, now Supervisor who spearheaded their referendum and Fred Costello, Supervisor Town of Saugerties and Bill Murphy, Mayor of the Village of Saugerties.
