The Longest Table | Long Dock Park | Food & Wine | Chronogram Magazine

Dinner with strangers can be the beginning of a friendship—or at least a good story. Beacon’s first Longest Table invites residents and neighbors to find out over a community potluck at Long Dock on October 6. Bring something to eat, drink, or contribute, take a seat at the shared table, and strike up a conversation.

Beacon resident Heloisa Tomaz de Aquino spearheaded the gathering after finding friendships and support in the city she’s called home since 2022. Her inspiration joins a movement that began that same year in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, where Maryam Banikarim and Andrew Lerner set a long table on a street and invited neighbors to share food. The concept has since spread to more than 30 cities.

Beacon’s inaugural edition runs from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Attendance is free and open to everyone, with registration through Eventbrite. Come hungry, with something to share and someone new to meet.
