The Jazz Passengers have spent nearly four decades turning the conventions of jazz inside out. Founded in 1987 by saxophonist Roy Nathanson and trombonist Curtis Fowlkes, the band emerged from New York’s downtown scene with a sound that blended avant-garde jazz, funk, world music, classical influences, original songs, and sharp humor.
