THE DINER PROJECT - A COMMUNITY LOST TO PROGRESS PHOTO EXHBITION

This photography exhibition captures the heart and spirit of a place and time that no longer exists. The 1970's were the twilight years of organized labor. Over a three year period between 1974 - 1977, then college student Andrew Satter documented the predominantly blue collar workers who worked at or frequented Russ's Kitchenette Diner, located in a gritty section of Cambridge, MA. Enter Russ's and meet a community that laughed, joked, and shared joy with each other daily for more than thirty years. Presumed lost in 1980, Satter rediscovered these photographs in an unmarked box in his basement in 2023.
