Racial Democracy in Latin America: Lessons from the Cuban Revolution

Harvard historian Alejandro de la Fuente will address race issues and politics in Cuba in his talk, "Racial Democracy in Latin America: Lessons from the Cuban Revolution.” De la Fuente is the Robert Woods Bliss Professor of Latin American History and Economics, Professor of African and African American Studies and of History at Harvard University. His areas of expertise include comparative slavery, race relations, and Atlantic history. Among his many accomplishments, de la Fuente is also the founding director of the Institute of Afro-Latin American Studies at Harvard and co-chair of the university’s Cuban Studies Program.
