Performance & Video Installation: μ (mu) by Marina Rosenfeld

Join us at EMPAC in Troy for the American premiere of μ (mu) by Marina Rosenfeld. Commissioned with Gwangju Biennale, μ (mu) is titled after the mathematical term for friction or touch and inspired by the artist’s longstanding interest in turntablism. The work takes place along the surface of a dubplate at the moment of inscription. It engages sound’s material conditions, staging sonic and visual events activated by friction, captured at an incredibly small scale. Rosenfeld’s score plays with noise, analog synth, and forms of abrasion. Louis Chude-Sokei accompanies on transacoustic piano and Ben Vida also performs. Advance tickets recommended.
