Jadele McPherson, a singer and performance artist, will perform songs that honor Augusta Savage’s body of work, along with new music from Tempo Iroko (2024). The EP explores the healing sounds of Iroko, a sacred tree that should not be cut down, and represents our interconnectivity with one another and the planet. The performance has seven short movements that begin with the ancestors. Each movement uses sound, vocal music, and Afro-Cuban chants with live bata and chorus.
