"Life in this House is Over"
Grief is a monster, breaking down a person’s soul. It also makes life pretty awkward to navigate. “Life in this House is Over” explores that awkwardness with both tragedy and comedy. Inspired by Anthon Chekhov’s writing, Samantha Shay’s dance theater piece takes place in a funeral and a wake. It asks the poignant question of how a person can move on in the face of suffering, of how anyone can move on when so much has been lost.
