Bales will speak about how environmental destruction is a significant cause of human trafficking. Mr. Bales is a Professor of Contemporary Slavery at the University of Nottingham, UK. He co-founded Free the Slaves in Washington, D.C. and is Lead Author of the Global Slavery Index. He serves on the board of directors for the Freedom Fund and as a consultant to the United Nations Global Program on Trafficking of Human Beings and edited the UN Toolkit on human trafficking.
