Step into the rhythmic, ancient practice of Indigo dyeing during a morning session in the lab.. For this special community gathering, our vats will be infused with Indigofera suffruticosa, sourced directly from traditional artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico. Unlike other botanical dyes, Indigo is a living, breathing vat that requires no mordant and a unique "dip and oxidize" process to reveal its depth.
We will gather to wake up the vats, watching as the fabric emerges from the liquid a startling lime green, only to transform into a rich, resonant blue as it meets the air. This is a communal ritual
