A new seasonal walk series at Hawthorne Valley invites the public onto its recently completed Biodiversity Trail, beginning with a guided walk on Saturday, January 17, at 1pm. Co-led by Hawthorne Valley Farm and the Farmscape Ecology Program, the walk offers an introduction to the farm’s actively managed landscape and the research and stewardship practices that support biodiversity alongside agriculture.
Created in 2025, the Biodiversity Trail grew out of a collaboration between Hawthorne Valley, Greenagers, and Hawthorne Valley students, with support from regional foundations. Along the route, interpretive signage—based on biodiversity surveys and hand-painted by Waldorf School students—and poetry-inscribed benches highlight the land’s ecological richness.
The January walk launches Seasons on the Biodiversity Trail, a four-part series tracing how the landscape changes throughout 2026. Free; donations welcome. Registration required.
