The Friends of Clermont, in partnership with Clermont State Historic Site, is partnering with seven other gardens on this one-day, free, self-guided tour throughout the mid-Hudson Valley. Come see our gardens! During her time in Italy, Alice Delafield Clarkson Livingston fell in love with the beauty of classical garden design. When she returned home to Clermont, she blended those Italian influences with the charm and natural grace of English-style gardens. In the 1930s, Alice created the Walled, Wilderness, and Cutting Gardens, each with its own character and story to tell. We recommend comfortable footwear, gardens contain grassy and uneven surfaces.
