George Kimmerling: Fractional Landscape

George Kimmerling began his photography project "Fractional Landscape" a few months before his mother died from Alzheimer’s. He didn't set out directly to make images about that time in their lives but saw that the photographs spoke to it in some way. As an ongoing project, "Fractional Landscape" attempts to give viewers an analog for the sense of anxiety, loss, and rootlessness many of us experience as we confront multiple breakage points in the worlds we inhabit and for our resulting inability to form a coherent collective or individual vision of sites and experiences.
