FREE Children's Magic Lantern Show & Optical Toy Making Activity

This hands-on activity demonstrates an authentic magic lantern and optical toys of the 19th Century. Children can enjoy a toy lantern to see how it works, and then hand-color their own lantern slide to bring home. They can also create a thaumatrope, and enjoy Victorian toys and free ice cream, courtesy of Stewart’s Shops. Recommended for ages 7 to 99! Reservations recommended: https://magiclanternshow.eventbrite.com/ Cost: free. This program is presented by the Friends of Mills at Staatsburgh, with the generous assistance of The Pomeroy Fund for History and Stewart’s Shops.
