Hosted by the Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, and Canal Corporation, this fourteenth annual event invites participants to explore the winter beauty of state parks, historic sites, and wildlife areas. From mountain climbs and cross-country skiing to birding walks and leisurely trails, there’s something for everyone. With hikes ranging from one to five miles, many are family-friendly and free of charge. Bundle up, get active, and experience nature’s winter wonders on January 1.
