Language and poetry serve as presentiments of image, but when they cohabit consumable space, they choke out sense: Translation of sensation disrupts and transverses. Carla Perez-Gallardo and Elbert Perez grapple with the potency and slippage of language, suspensions of description and non-description, and the entanglements of what is felt with what is said. Perez-Gallardo's intuitive raw/live materials installations dialectically challenge Perez's philosophically derived, descriptive paintings which challenge back, creating poetic collision and cohesion.
