Sean Baker’s new film is a sex-fueled modern Cinderella story about a Brooklyn stripper, Ani, played by Mikey Madison (Scream). After sleeping with Ivan, a client, and the son of a Russian oligarch, they decide to get married in Vegas, stirring up family drama. Ivan’s family discovers he has married a sex-worker and demands that they get their marriage annulled. In an anxiety-inducing series of events, Ani and Ivan try to save their marriage while money and pride are on the line. It’s a bilingual movie set in the multicultural area of Brooklyn and attempts sex-work in a more realistic way.
