Documentary photographer, writer, and filmmaker Isadora Kosofsky began photographing hospice patients at the age of 14, and then the youth prison system in Romania at age 16. The Los Angeles- and Albuquerque-based artist "takes an immersive approach to visual storytelling, spending months and years imbedded in the lives of the people she shadows," according to her website. Her work focuses on a range of domestic social issues, exploring "the intersection of personal and political conflicts." Kosofsky, a National Geographic photographer and awardee of several grants and honors, has taught at numerous prestigious colleges and institutions across the country.
