This Little Light of Mine: A Martinmas Lantern Workshop and Procession

Dating to medieval times, Martinmas is a procession of lanterns marking the end of the harvest and the start of winter. It reminds us to kindle warmth and light in our hearts as we enter the darkest time of the year. In this 1 ½ hour workshop, children will decorate a mason jar to make a lantern to keep. We will proceed as a group outdoors as the sun sets over the Hudson River, singing songs about light. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Appropriate for ages three and up.
