Celebrated director/producer Steven Spielberg, pioneer of the modern blockbuster, finds his allegorical Rosebud moment in this semi-autobiographical story about his evolution as a filmmaker. The director’s avatar, Sammy Fabelman, is the son of a concert pianist and hard-working electrical engineer, not unlike Spielberg’s own parents. Growing up in post-WWII Arizona, he becomes increasingly comfortable behind the camera, documenting his developing inspirations and obsessions through the stories he constructs.
