In this painting workshop, held over 3 consecutive weeks, local Tim Smith teaches a sequential procedure using still life to summarize a traditional working method in oil. Returning for three 2-hour sessions to the same painting, students work up a layered structure in oil managing tonal underpainting, opaque and transparent dynamics, descriptive texture, realistic form rendering in values, and drawing with the brush. Students will come away with a fully completed still life painting. Materials and supplies provided; students may bring their own. For adults and teens ages 13+.
