The 1952 musical is the undisputed pinnacle of Hollywood’s golden age: Gene Kelly stomping through puddles, Debbie Reynolds finding her spotlight, Donald O’Connor defying gravity in “Make ’Em Laugh.” It’s a film about transitions—silent to sound, anonymity to stardom—and a fitting metaphor for the rebirth of a hometown movie house.
But this isn’t just a screening, it’s a full-blown launch party fundraiser. MASHA and Music for Furniture perform live with visuals by Devin Tanchum, while Birdcage Babes set the mood with red-carpet music. Complimentary food from Café Joust and cocktails by Hemlock fuel the evening; downstairs, tarot reader Derek Smith of Constellation Catskill peers into the future. Photographer Bruce Byers captures the glam in a themed photo spot, while Vinyl Sessions’ Jacqueline Farrara spins cinematic DJ sets before and after the film. A silent auction and raffle sweeten the mix.
