Expressionism and Soviet cinema's rapid-fire editing to create a drama/thriller that was little known before its re-release in 2008. In one scene using a sequencing technique, that incorporated 40 shots in about two minutes; Asquith, ushered in a new era of film making that clearly presaged the film noir movement. Featuring live musical accompaniment by Cary Brown.
