Screening, Tokyo Drifter (東京流れ者, Tōkyō nagaremono) (1966)

Directed by Seijun Suzuki. After yakuza boss Kurata (Ryuji Kita) dissolves his own criminal empire, a rival kingpin offers a position to Kurata's top operative, Tetsuya “Phoenix Tetsu” Hondo (Tetsuya Watari). When the fiercely loyal Tetsu declines, Otsuka taps unstoppable Tatsuzo the “Viper” (Tamio Kawaji), a ruthless gun-for-hire, to assassinate him. Prior to the screening, guest speaker Dr. Joel Neville Anderson, Professor of Cinema Studies and Film at Purchase College, SUNY, will present an historical introduction and lead a post-screening discussion.
