Formerly Saria Young and best known locally for growing up dancing, singing, and teaching with The Vanaver Caaravan, Sariyah Idan is an awarded singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and captivating performer now based in New Orleans. When playing solo, she plays a custom flamenco guitar and dances her drums on an electronic kick and foot tambourine. Jazz and folk trained, hip-hop educated, and influenced by Latinx/Caribbean sounds and her Jewish roots, she possesses an "ability to seamlessly combine a wide variety of disparate styles and sonics into a memorable sound all her own," (Tinnitist). Her poetic lyrics address love, transformation, and social justice.
