Dr. Charles Merguerian plans to discuss the geology of the Earth’s moon against the backdrop of the history of space exploration and discovery including pre-1969 sci-fi movies and world literature that accurately predicted our coming conquests. An active, published research scientist in the fields of Geology and Astrogeology and professor of many lunar geology courses, he will describe the lunar missions and geological evolution of the Moon. Lunar geology also serves as a window of time into the first billion or so years of solar system history – a period of time from which few terrestrial rocks persist.
