Hudson Valley based-novelist, essayist, and Vassar professor Amitava Kumar will be hosting a conversation at the Reher Center to talk about his latest book, My Beloved Life, which traces the arc of a man’s life, an ordinary life made exceptional by the fact that he has loved and has been loved in turn. Kumar, who has has written more than a dozen books of fiction and nonfiction—including Immigrant, Montana, A Time Outside This Time, and the recent The Green Book—moves fluidly between the political and the poetic, between the urgency of the moment and the slow churn of craft. At the Reher Center event, he’ll read selections from his recent work and talk about how he imagines, and reimagines, the immigrant experience—on the page and in real life.
