Since 2016, Rachelle Garniez’s annual "Farewell" concert has offered a moving, offbeat tribute to musicians lost in the previous year, blending reverence with her signature wit and musical range. The 2025 edition honors an eclectic group of artists, including Connie Francis, Ozzy Osbourne, Sheila Jordan, Brian Wilson, Flaco Jimenez, Sly Stone, and Jill Sobule, among others.
A songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist known for her genre-fluid approach, Garniez reimagines familiar and obscure songs through a lens that draws on tango, blues, klezmer, cabaret, and improvisation. Her performances are by turns hilarious and poignant, unfolding in the moment with an element of surprise.
After delighting local audiences last fall with her VKB bandmates—she is a member of VickiKristinaBarcelona, a trio of women remaking the Tom Waits catalog in three-part harmony—Garniez returns solo for an evening that balances tribute and transformation—celebrating the lives, voices, and enduring influence of artists who shaped the musical landscape.
