Quartz in all its Glory- Earth's Most Abundant and Diverse Surface Mineral

This program is designed for kids 8 and over and adults who love and are interested in Minerals and Rocks. It is a brief introduction to the most common surface mineral on the planet. This hands-on discussion will include observations of samples of varied quartz crystals from local and international locations. There will be an opportunity to handle Herkimer dolostone with Herkimer "diamond" crystals and a discussion on where to mine your own. Participants will be given the chance to open their own Geodes to see if they have formed crystals and identify which type of crystal may be inside.
