Christopher Nolan's latest audiovisual feast tells the complicated story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb. A film as overstuffed with talent as it is with accumulating uranium and plutonium marbles, Oppenheimer moves back and forth from Washington to Los Alamos through Robert Oppenheimer's complex intellectual and emotional life. Nolan notably used practical, not CGI, effects, mixing color and black-and-white scenes thoughout. This is a big-screen, not-to-be-missed treat, with powerful performances from Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.
