"One on One: A Survey of Contemporary Monotypes & Monoprints" is dedicated to the art of singular printmaking. Although the original purpose of printmaking was to edition identical multiples of images, monotypes and monoprints are created as unique artworks that are ends unto themselves. Artists have turned to monotype printmaking for many reasons: to inject spontaneity in their art practice, reboot their creativity, explore the parameters of the medium or simply enjoy the rich possibilities of pigment embedded into paper.
