World Class Brazilian Jazz comes to Kingston!!!
Come celebrate spring with Mia and her all-star Brazilian Jazz ensemble with their Melodies of the Earth show!
Mia is a jazz vocalist enchanted by the music of Brazil. With her warm voice, adventuresome arrangements and this ensemble of world class musicians, she’ll take you on a journey into the creative conversation between these two traditions as she delights in singing beautiful Brazilian melodies, playing in the waves of its rhythms and scatting her way back to jazz. You’ll hear Bossa Nova classics in English and Portuguese, pieces by contemporary Brazilian composers and her vocal scat versions of instrumental music. Mia will also perform new material from her studies in Sao Paulo of the rhythmic voice as she’s joined by Mark Dzuiba on guitar, Lou Pappas on acoustic bass, Connie Grossman on flute and Chris Eddleton on drums. Come join us and be moved, grooved, soothed and uplifted!
