Curated by Lisa Corinne Davis, Material Girl showcases a vibrant ensemble of multigenerational self-identifying women artists including Nanette Carter, Lynda Benglis, and more, each hailing from diverse backgrounds and united by their fascination with the physicality of paint. Rather than merely applying color, they engage in dynamic techniques—puncturing, weaving, incising, and dragging the paint across the canvas—expanding the scope of painting.
