This stealthy horror film has many satisfying twists and turns, all of which eventually close in on the young FBI agent trying to catch a serial killer. Nicolas Cage gives a crazed performance as the titular boogeyman who haunts the crime scenes. Director Osgood Perkins, son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, reveals he is a dedicated student of the genre. "Part of what makes the film so effective is that it doesn’t really depend on secrets or surprises.
