Having composed the music for "F*ck 7th Grade," a finalist in the Lambda Literary awards in LGBTQ Drama category this June, singer/songwriter Jill Sobule is heading on tour post-production to bring her fans a taste of her latest theatrical work. The self-declared "two hit wonder" (known best for her songs "I Kissed a Girl" and "Supermodel," the ladder of which was featured in Clueless) came up with this off-Broadway production before COVID-19, but it had to wait to see the stage until 2022, where it has since had three annual performances, with the latest one having ended in November of 2024. Based on a book by Liza Birkenmeier, "F*ck 7th Grade" is a semi-autobiographical story about how Sobule never fit in, and even after she found success in her career, it never felt like enough to make her feel normal. On brand with the themes from the rest of her three-decades-long discography, "F*ck 7th Grade" is boundary-pushing, vulnerable and shamelessly self-aware. She will be at The Falcon in Marlboro Friday night for a "free" show (although the audience is encouraged to donate what they can; all proceeds go directly to the artist) after a sit-down dinner in their dining room.
