Nestor created 90 paintings inspired by a Pre-Columbian Paracas Tapestry he saw at the Brooklyn Museum many years ago.
Each painting responds to one of the 90 icons that surround the perimeter of the ancient textile. "Silhouettes expressing my modern interests in tai chi, drumming and other activities are overlaid on top of pre-columbian priests, shamans, warriors and mythical characters shown in the original tapestry." Nestor was born in Peru, where this tapestry comes from. The gallery will be showing some of this series. Duration 9/5 to 9/26
