In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, John Murphy, the Philip and Lynn Straus Curator of Prints and Drawings, will lead a walkthrough and discussion of American
Impressions: A Nation in Prints focused on the work of contemporary Native American artists Rick Bartow, Jaune Quick-To-See-Smith, and Fritz Scholder. The talk will consider issues of (mis)representation, the complexities of identity, and the challenges of defining what it means to be “American.”
