Calico Rebellion recounts the story of the Anti-Rent War, which took place in the Catskill Mountains in the 1840s, when thousands of farmers, disguised in masks and gowns, organized a broad-scale rebellion to protest the outdated and exploitive feudal practices of elite, absent landlords. Dubbed the “Second American Revolution” by its participants, the uprising changed the course of American history. The film showing will also feature a discussion of the film and the historical events it depicts with director Victoria Kupchinetsky, producers Misha Gutkin and Peter Hutchison, and descendants of Calico rebels Burr Hubbell, Jim Andrews, and Marianne Greenfield.
