Caramoor continues its long-standing tradition of Guitar in the Garden with Derek Gripper, a South African guitarist whom London’s Evening Standard hailed as “opening a whole new repertoire of classical guitar music.” The program, including his captivating transcriptions of works written for the 21-string kora (harp lute) by African composers Toumani Diabaté, Ballaké Sissoko, and Madosini — alongside Brazilian Egberto Gismonti and J.S. Bach — transcends time, place, and culture.
