Diana Tandia is originally from Mauritania, a state in Northwest Africa, and was raised in a Berber family on her mother's side and a Sarakhole family on her dad's side with Senegalese roots. At an early age, she watched her relatives prepare food from scratch and learned the importance of quality food. Diana moved to New York City in 2001 to attend undergraduate school and then continued her education at the French Culinary Institute where she developed her own unique style
