Michael Prettyman
Vaya Con Dios, 2024, oil on canvas 34”x44”
In "Fire Paintings," Prettyman painstakingly recreates historic American landscapes in oil, interrupting their bucolic calm with fire. Blending humor and tragedy that reflect the fragility of our environment in the Anthropocene, these works reveal a world shaped by climate change and cultural upheaval. In his "UFO Paintings," Michael introduces small, delicate UFOs into otherwise ordinary skies, subtly transforming the landscape. These figures evoke the unseen and the jarring, creating a dialogue between the familiar and the mysterious. "In Suspect Terrain" opens with an Opening Reception on Saturday, February 7, 2026, 5 - 7 PM and Artist Talk: February 22, 2026.
