Fred Steins' Black and White Photography Exhibition

Fred Stein's journey through history landed him in 1930s Paris, a seminal time for photography. Forced to flee from Germany by the Nazis in 1933, Stein reinvented himself as a photographer in Paris, pioneering techniques that would define his craft. He shot exclusively in black-and-white, utilizing available light and hand-held cameras to create compositions that transcended mere observation, embodying the principles of Modernism and the New Vision. The Gallery will host an “In Conversation” Sunday, April 21st from 3:30-5pm with Peter Stein featuring Lothar Osterburg titled “Immigrant in New Country”.
