Joyce Washor Saltzman. The last FOCUS show of 2018 investigates the notion of the real in art. Artists applying for this show were asked to consider the following questions. Does Realism really portray reality? Is a painting of a black square on a white canvas more or less real than a still life of apples? Is a concept more real than a photograph? And how can what we assume to be real be manipulated to mislead us. All these and other intriguing questions concerning reality and appearance will be explored.
