In this zingy, refreshingly adult relationship comedy, an out-of-work actress, played by Amanda Peet, falls for the anxious law school dropout babysitting her kids. Peet brings the soulful boss energy and writer and first-time director Matthew Shear, who also stars, the neurotic comic relief. He is the perfect foil to a women on the verge. The spot-on supporting cast includes Bob Balaban, Jessica Harper, Judd Hirsch, Zosia Mamet, Andrea Martin, Alessandro Nivola, and Holland Taylor. A FilmColumbia25 selection, Fantasy Life won the 2025 audience award at South by Southwest, where Peet also received a special jury prize for her performance.
