Elisapie

ellsapie.webp
Elisapie is a Canadian Inuk singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in language, landscape, and storytelling. Born and raised in the remote village of Salluit, Nunavik — accessible only by plane — she carries her heritage into every performance, singing in Inuktitut and blending traditional sensibilities with contemporary folk, indie, and pop influences. Since first earning a Juno Award in 2005 with her group Taima, Elisapie has built a critically acclaimed solo career centered on emotional depth and cultural resonance. Her fourth album, Inuktitut, reimagines rock and pop classics from the 1960s to the ’90s in her mother tongue, each track tied to personal memory and connection. The record was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and earned her another Juno Award, prompting tours across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Accompanied by top musicians from the Montreal indie and folk scenes, Elisapie’s music bridges tradition and modernity, inviting audiences into a world where language and place are inseparable from artistic expression.
