Paul Smart’s contemplative Don Barry: A Quixotic Exploration is a reimagination of Cervantes’ tale, replacing Don Quixote with real-life experimental filmmaker Barry Gerson. Gerson and a young animator explore mortality, madness, art, and dreams together in the streets of Guanajuato, Mexico. Don Barry asks the audience to distinguish between what’s real and what’s performance—if there’s any difference between the two at all.
